As a lifelong horror fan, having seen way more horror movies than is (possibly) healthy, I really enjoyed this installment. Finally we see how dangerous Michael can be, which I think many horror fans will enjoy. This film feels even more like fan service with all the nods and throwbacks to the original film which will likely be missed or ignored by the casual fan of the series, or the person who thinks horror films are only for halloween. Personally I appreciate all of the easter eggs. I think this is the most brutal amd violent version of The Shape that we've ever seen, he's been a horror icon for decades, but now he truly stands tall next to our favorite slashers like Jason and Leatherface. IMO it stands as one of the best sequels in the continuong saga of Michael Myers.

The story is overly convoluted and nonsensical. Yhere are more acrnes where the humans are doing "Something" which is just time filler. Mecha Godzilla looks like a design that Michael Bay refused to put in Transformers Extinction. The plot point of the little girl who taught a 200ft gorilla is aign language is beyond ridiculous. This movie does not ask you to suspend your disbelief, it insults you for doing so. Additionally (spoilers) how the Kong get Thor's axe Stormbreaker? Why did the writers think this was a good idea? Almost as if they said "Giant monsters, hollow earth, yeah, glowing electric hatchet, that makes sense!" While it does have some really great visuals, most of those were given away for free in the trailer. Thats the only reason I gave it a star. Weakest entry in the Monsterverse.
