Is GOAT LIFE film going to be an official entry for Oscar??? Probably a Big Yes. I am not a Mallu, Malayali but watched Goat Life without subtitles. This 172 mts duration film requires no subtitles to understand and experience the human miseries which are universal emotions. Watching Goat Life film is like a reading a good book.This film is also based on a true story Goat Life of Benayamin. Charectors in the film Nazir, Hakim and Khadir are very much real. Goat Life is my very first Malayalam film to watch on the big screen. Ofcourse, I do watch and like Malayalam films on OTT platforms with subtitles or dubbed version like any other non mallu from past two years. Thanks to COVID, which made us to watch Malayalam films. Today, more number of non malayalies are fan of Malayalam films. I watched GL in Bengaluru, Inox with equal number of kannada audiences. I don't know what to say about this film. Should I call this film a very good film? No, I can't, my conscience won't permit. And , How can I say that a film based on human miseries is a Best Film. Or a film made authentically based on human life, livelihood, slavery, exploitation, failures....is a film with 5 Stars. Still in professional dilemma. The director Blessy has redefined the meaning of Realistic Indian Films and has introduced a new concept, style in film making. Directors like Satyajeet Ray, Mrinal Sen, Rutwik Ghatak, BV Karanth, Girish Kasarvalli and others who introduced experimental films, new wave films, Realistic Indian films etc and who captured global audiences through a new style is part of film history. Now, Malayalam films are more sensitive in selecting content, more authentic in its creation and producing cinematically well structured films which are evoking debate among the viewers. Goat Life - Aadujivitam is one such film. Actor Prithvi Raj sukumar, KR Gokul and Jimmy Jean Louis are the three main characters. Louis , an Afro American actor who is currently based in America, is a film and TV actor is one of the powerful Charectors in the film. Obviosly a few supporting a few Arebian actors are also have acted. Equally the camera work by Sunil KS, AR Rehman music, Rasool Kutti's music, Makeup, editing also have elevated the film quality. Goat Life is a 16 years project and which reflects the life of Blue Collared Kerala workers in Muslim countries. Kerala encourages people to migrate to Middle East countries for odd jobs. There are several organised agencies which sends Kerala workers to gulf countries.Enough films have been produced based on plight of such migrant workers, exploitation etc. For instance, Airlift, Kerala story are a few films to mention. Probably Goat Life is the first film which has been directed in a deep desert with all sorts of climatic challenges. The total duration of the film is 172 mts and the entire film has been shot in original location. Working in such extreme weather conditions, heat and cold, frequent sand strom attacks, lack of proper logistic fecilities etc might have been a herculean task for the film crew while working. Personally I would like to thank to assistant directors, clap boys, camera assistants, drivers kind work operators etc. My special acknowledgement to these crew who have worked in a very challenging geographical conditions .
