SPOILERS INCLUDED ! I honestly don’t understand all the hate towards this game, it was an absolute masterpiece ! I loved every second of playing this game, and was devastated when it finished. I see how the scene with Joel was so hurtful and heartbreaking, yet I really think it is a pivotal moment in understanding a post apocalyptic world and how nobody is safe at all. I can see how hate would be directed towards abby at the start of the game, as we see Joel’s death and the following period of time through Ellie’s eyes. Even I felt negatively towards Abby, and at first couldn’t understand the switch between Ellie’s story and hers. That being said, approaching Abby’s segment with an open mind really allowed me to immerse myself in the game and I found to actually enjoy this part of the game more than the latter. And not to mention the weapons and missions were so enjoyable. At the end of the day, the game was always going to be hated by die hard Joel fans but I urge people to approach this with an open mind. It shows the consequences of actions, as well as drawing so many comparisons between Abby and Ellie. This game really showed the vicious cycle of revenge, and how it never ends. If you hated this game, I urge you to ask yourself if Ellie was in Abby’s position, would you hate her as much as you hate Abby? I believe Naughty Dog did a fantastic job with this game, and I can’t wait for the next.
