It started off promising. Plot was seemed cool, free PSN game so why not?
This game ignored a critical aspect for players which is the simple user experience. The basic mechanics of a game are meant to be unnoticeable and negligible for the most part. Stuff like your HUD, or Map, or pause menu should never be a talking point. But man are they ever for this game. Everything feels so cluttered and redundant, excessive and useless.
You can pick up hundreds of mods for your weapon, but it takes hours of work before you can maybe unlock a single additional slot to use a mod.
If you die, you respawn 2-5min walk away from wherever you died, instead of reloading in the room before. This wouldnโt be so bad if the map system wasnโt terrible. I donโt need a game to hold my hand through it but maybe the option to set a way point? Or to filter by what floor the player is currently on? The reason this is problematic is because when you respawn far away and walk through a space again, enemies respawn in the space ever.single.time. Why would developers think I want to waste my time repeating gameplay over and over?
The whole weapon and personal mods systems are awkward, cluttered and very discouraging. Whatโs the point in having 24 slots for mods when I can only have 9 in my loadout, WHENEVER I can even unlock the 9 slots to begin with.
Overall the plot seems promising but all these other elements really take away from the experience.
