The people who didn’t like it are the people who didn’t understand or relate to it. Even if you are Asian and you could technically understand some surface level understanding, if you didn’t understand or empathize with Joy or any of the characters, I don’t think you could’ve appreciated the movie to the fullest. Just probably wasn’t meant for you as an audience. It is such a powerful movie and it’s changed some people’s lives including mine. It’s such a creative masterpiece and it is now my favorite movie of all time. I think the ending was a little weak but overall doesn’t shy away from the themes.
