As a die hard fan of the books, I really like what they have done with the show so far.
The core characterisation of the main characters is very well understood and embodied by the cast and the writers. I love that they are focusing on the vulnerabilities and the connection between the characters that it brings- it's very fresh to see the show add to that as an adaptation of the original material. I also love the changes they are bringing with the themes of family and pride with the mythological part.
I do agree with some critiques on 1x02 about rushing the scene because of limited screen time. But I think the episodes keep getting better and more importantly, the writing's faith in building up its three main characters with the empathy they deserve has honestly won me over and I really hope it gets renewed because the content just gets better after this season.
