From Episode 1 onwards, there could be no empathy for the main characters, who hacked and slashed their ways through the innocent population of any country they visited or invaded. The so-called nudity the viewer was warned about contained nothing more than lukewarm imagery and the women are always promiscuitously portrayed. Characters come and go with impunity - Rollo was last seen sitting in a chair on his boat with a 1000-mile stare and looking tired and was heard of no more. Bjorn never lost his sneer, nor Ivar his mean looks. I was surprised that both King Harald and Ivar were shanked by ephemeral characters and not any of the main ones as expected. However, the acting and production was second to none - much money spent on the sets and countries traveled to. I'm pleased that no 7th series have been planned.
