Homestead is an intense post-apocalyptic film brimming with compelling moments that seamlessly blur the line between the nightmarishly "hypothetical" scenarios we all lay awake at night and fear, and the hell-ish situations we'd undoubtedly face should those hypotheticals become a reality in our unsuspecting everyday lives.
The cast of the film excel in their ability to invite you into their world and into each of their characters personal situations. In particular, Olivia Sanabia (Claire Ross) puts on a theatrical clinic with the use of detailed nuances in each of her emotionally expressive scenes. While leading rolls masterfully executed by Neil McDonough (lan Ross), Dawn Olivieri (Jenna Ross), and Bailey Chase (Jeff Eriksson) radiate with conviction that force the audience to reflect and ponder how they'd handle the same situations if ever experiencing a similarly unfortunate fate.
Simply put, there's not a bad actor in the film.
I'll conclude with a thunderous applause to Ben Kasica, Andrea Royer, and Ben Smallbone for executing an incredibly refreshing, entertaining, and thrilling take in a genre that has had many entries, but none that have done it this well!
