I read " A stone for Danny Fischer" way back in 1978 when I was a University student. This was the first novel I purchased, paying my savings (l??). Earlier I used to read books from public libraries or college libraries by paying subscription / reading charge. I kept it for many years (it was my first investment of reading material). I read it many times. In few years it became a bunch of loose papers. Still I kept it with the original paper back covers.
The story touched me a lot, specially the character Danny. I found many parallels between me and him. The struggles and feeling of a young teenager was akin to my feelings and life. The struggles to grow up and make it rich without any help from home/ parents. I feel it is a common thing around. Appreciate the imagination of the author-Harrold Robbins. Of course he is a great writer.
