If I had gotten up and left when the credits began rolling at the end I would have given this film an 85%. But online people have been saying "Make sure you stay through the credits!" So, I sat through the credits and...it ruined the film. If you stay through the credits you are going to get the classic "Hollywood" industrial complex ending to a film that, for the most part, is an art house vampire movie. It's basically Dusk to Dawn set in the South in the early 1900's. I guarantee you, that this cookie cutter ending was decided upon by the film company and not the writer/director.
Other minor issues with the film are the unnecessary sex scenes. There are three of them and they don't add anything to the film whatsoever except time. Additionally, the editing is bad at certain points in the film with Michael Bay style rapid jump cuts that don't really fit this style of film. Lastly, the script is a little on the bland side with the standard tropes we've already seen hundreds of times before and there are several one dimensional, cardboard cutout, supporting characters that seem to have just been added so there will be people to kill that you sorta care about.
