I discovered this by accident on TV Plus streaming. Beautifully written and acted. This is not just a shoot'em up. Henry Fonda's character is warm and charming giving solid life directions, sort of a cowboy philosophy, to those who need it or will listen. Pacing is excellent. Slow but comfortable, with action needed when it fits well into the plot.
By the way the camera shots are well thought out such as in one scene with dual views of seeing and hearing the conversations in the sheriff's office while seeing the city street crowd actions through the sheriff's large window without hearing what was being said, but you could tell what they were saying by the flailing of their arms in the air.
