A movies based off incredible books are hard to make.... Now after stating the obvious, I'll just say this.... the writers did their best to consolidate the script. If you know what you're going into, you won't be surprised by the violence, but this story is ultimately about the relationship between the the individuals journey of walking and the boys. The only problem I really had with the movie was how much they changed the script of the book. By not giving us more details into how the towns people viewed this race it took away the why. In the book, as they walker they came into different towns where folks were gathered to cheer the boys on our even to boo them. The race was entertainment, much like the hunger games... And there was a hundred boys. The winner was different, which honestly I didn't mind the script writers twist at the end, but without the King twist you lose a little of the....oh I don't know, maybe the eerie aspect of insanity that walking for four days without rest even to relieve yourself can cause. But I will say that the acting was incredible, and the writers and director captured The angst very well. Just know going in what you're going to see, and then go home and read the book.
