This is pure Star Wars - an epic adventure, space western with thrilling set pieces, deadly villains and sweeping romance at it's core. A big part of this is down to the screenplay - it's written by Lawrence Kasden and his son Jonathon - they totally get Star Wars. It just feels right, and it would - with Lawrence having worked on Empire, Jedi and Force Awakens. It's brilliantly designed, with 80s esque monsters, mysterious biker gangs, amazing new vehicles and wonderous new locations. I was worried from lacklustre marketing/trailers - how do u ever live upto Harrison Ford - but Alden nails it immediately, and is full of charisma as young Han. Great performances all round, especially Donald Glover as Lando. The score is incredible - with John Williams supplying a main theme to draw upon, and then the rest fleshed out by the brilliant John Powell ( of How to Train your Dragon fame ) -u have a match made in heaven, and just a gorgeous score with the kind of melodic, memorable themes that you'll be humming along to. For those who maybe were still sore after Last Jedi and didn't love it at the time - I would try a rewatch. Well worth it. If you've never seen it - prepare to have some real fun in that galaxy far, far away. - Fly casual!

Great fun, and definitely worth heading out to catch on the Big screen - some breathtaking, tense cinematic moments, incredible stunts and a great cast all selling just how high the stakes are this time. Ok you could call this 'Exposition Impossible' as it constantly tries to explain to the audience - what happened last time, what happened all those other 7 times, and what is happening this time - but, there's also some great callbacks and cameos from previous missions, and it does a good job of wrapping them all up in one big finale, and you'll leave with a smile on your face.
