For me who only plays career mode I will start with positivity the menu and noticeable effort to add to the experience is decent, but there’s so much that isn’t acceptable for a franchise who’ve had this much success to be making a game look like a ps2 game. The mechanics are glitchy, the defending is just laughable players regularly bounce off the opponent and the ball is impossible to clear, the updates actually create more glitches like menu options disappear and the ghost trophy returns, it regularly doesn’t stick to tactical changes and resorts back to original, since the last update graphically you can see since losing the license to fifa and more teams in Italy they’ve invested less. FIFA 23 wasn’t perfect in fact this career mode is more varied but the gameplay is going backwards, I don’t mind losing or even being punished for mistakes on ultimate mode but I regularly have to restart games because the comical manner at which the game glitches is not how a 88 ranked defender works, he’ll time the tackle perfectly then go for the ball dispossess then fall over like he’s hit a force field the ball will spill to a player edge of box you get literally 0.01 seconds to react and then it’ll go back to the opponent, the defending is so bad it’s actually a mechanics issue and so glitchy that you can tell a goal is coming no matter what you do because it goes into this time lapse glitch of phases. I am an old school gamer I don’t play online I only play career and so I have found a way past the complaints of others but this is now a design and effort issue as it’s clear it’s gone backwards and updates actually make it worse, every update brings more glitches and the gameplay worse. Defending was hard on fifa 23 but once you got used to the positional jockey it became understandable but this is just terrible design, the defending is not something that can be worked out it’s just a comedic error on game design where circus situations of lags and glitches make basic defensive play almost impossible to do, tackles but also on counter faster highly rated players get caught up and barged so easily unless you do the jockey hold the ball up and pass back you’ll be blown aside and lose the ball, when a 86+ player is clear the opponent no matter the level has a non realistic advantage on not only pace but ultimately strength. It’s testament to the fact that updates make the game worse which is hard to understand, lastly they’re definitely spurs fans as every career mode spurs are always the best team and they make arsenal plummet. All the usual teams in form for the season they’re releasing become depleted and spurs become world beaters, ridiculous!
