Victoria takes you on a journey through her Ukraine, the Ukraine of her childhood during the Soviet era. Her own rediscovery of her motherland after coming of age. You share her joy, her tears for the past and the present, her hopes for the country and it's people that nurtured her and made her who she is today. The book, although not set during the current conflict, brings to the fore the complexities of the relationship shared by various families who have been torn between two halves, including Victoria's own. It's a beautiful and easy read. I loved it!
