It’s based on Robert Jordan Wheel of Time books, however it’s not book accurate at all, and it’s intentional by the show runner. The show runner has some liberal political viewpoints that he tries to advertise on this show, much like Amazon's Ring of a power. The problem is in general the actors are not pretty to look at, nor charismatic, if anyone of them died on the show no one would care. Thus regardless of the political viewpoint, it’s hard to enjoy.
