This is a challenging and important book. Annett traces the history of Catholic social teaching in a clear and helpful way. Very few Catholics know the history of Catholic social teaching and would do well to begin their study reading this book. I was especially helped by his careful articulation of economic systems and theory in the West. Read it. You will be happy you did
