Amazing acting from Austin Butler but majorly let down by the directing from Baz Luhrman.
It deserved a flowing story - not another Gatsby jump-style performance from the director. Iโm actually gutted as I was expecting this to be great ; as a fan of Elvis & movies in general.
Tom Hanks does play a good part but again it was made to almost feel uneasy often as he was stalking Elvis at various points in this movie.
Just donโt get why Luhrman thought the constant spinning camera angles of Cinematic's was a good concept? It would show more of his range of directing if he could change his style to match the movie. In Gatsby it suited with the Pinache & Grandeur being portrayed but with this it deserved a better written script also one with more of a personal touch, he barely even scratched the surface of Elvis relationship with his Mother & his Daughter.
It wasnโt until the last 30-40 mins in the movie did you actually hear a Elvis song sung for more than 30 seconds.
It could have been amazing..
