Some people have missed the point of this film. When Lizzie climbs the tree and frees her little girl from the straps she is set free from her emotional trauma. When she embraces DDF and says those words she no longer needs him to protect her. When she walks away from her mother she is finally her own person. The slapstick is strong and OTT but if you don't see the pathos behind it you have missed the whole point.

Heartbreaking, poignant, cruel, exquisitely acted by all leads, BAFTA worthy.
