I haven't been through divorce. I haven't thought through what it would be like on a personal level to go through a divorce. This movie, I imagine, makes divorce look as awful as it likely is to go through. I felt sorry for the characters, angry at them, sad for them, all the emotions. I thought it was a really refreshingly honest look at how divorce can really be pretty terrible even with not so terrible people. It doesn't glamourize or simplify divorce, and may even discourage people from considering it an option. I am sure this is close to reality for many people and it's good to see the story told this way instead of the more popular "it all gets fixed and they stay together" ending.
