I studied Jane Austen at uni . This Netflix version is so out of touch with the novel . So artificial , so out of depth , flimsy to say the least . I prefer the 2007 version with Rupert William Penny Jones as Wentworth . I hate these versions with ambiguous dialogue not worthy of a perfect novel written in the 19 century .

Worst Saturday night viewing I have ever seen !

The costumes were not in line with period . Also ladies for Jane Austen’s era wore their hair up in ringlets . This film is like something out of a Barn Yard . The acting wasn’t anything near as good as the 1995 adaptation.

I felt it was rather disoriented in respect of the book to film . Too many flash backs with vague correlation to the plot and characters . Well , it was a big leap from the perfect version starring Elizabeth Taylor, June Allyson and Peter Lawrence . The portrayal of Jo was the strongest , the other characters were weak .
