Selecting this film was a huge mistake for movie night with the grandkids. Definitely NOT appropriate for young children! Fortunately the two year old didn’t understand it and slept fine through the night but our very perceptive three year old grandson was extremely disturbed after realizing that both Arlo and spot had parents who died tragically. That plus the repetitive scary scenes of near drownings, trees falling, and violent storms caused him to have an extremely difficult time falling asleep and then staying asleep. He obviously was terrified that his parents were going to die because he was spending the night away from home. I wouldn’t let a child less than 7 or 8 watch it. The scenery was first class digital animation but the characters a little less so and the storyline lacking in imagination. Only giving it a three because of the beautiful animated scenery.
