If you go see this you have to be a fan of Whitney and/or her music. It's a rather generic and typical bio pic based around her songs and you don't really learn anything new. Half of the movie are perfromances or videos. I would want to know how a child raised within a strict religious tip, from all angles, failed to absorb many of those values ? Most of her relatives were professional gospel performers meaning she was in a church setting almost every day of her young life. Ackie did an excellent job in the role. I didnโt completely โseeโ Whitney on the screen, since Ackieโs features stood out so strongly, especially her eyes, but I did โfeelโ Houston in Ackieโs mannerisms, movements and silhouette, and โhearโ Houston in Ackieโs speaking voice. It felt like a PowerPoint presentation It was like watching a slide show of Whitneyโs life .for some reason the timeline wasnโt in chronological order. glazing over important moments and missing others completely, Naomi ackie looked more like brandy than Whit, They should have hired a black writer who knows about Whitney to write this movie.
