Imagine Tomb Raider x Uncharted x Dark Souls x Star Wars then take away the great controls, combat and character progression and you get Jedi Fallen Order.
When I heard this game was Dark Souls with lightsabers I was very excited, when I played the game I was very disappointed.
I would like to see another Fallen Order game but there need to be a overhaul of character progression and new combat style implemented.
Some general thoughts,
I played on hard/Jedi Master
The game is really hurt by having very little character progression, thereโs no stats, equipment/weapon upgrades, build options, crafting etc you do get force powers and dual light sabre option but they offer very little. This in turn hurts exploration as all in game items are cosmetic apart from health and force upgrades. One of the best aspects of Tomb Raider is exploring and finding/ crafting new weapon and equipment.
This is the most buggy game Iโve ever played, enemies spawning and floating all over the show, textures not loading, strange character faces, janky controls.
Traversal is generally fine but the swinging and sliding section arenโt easy to control and very inaccurate, I must have missed jumps about 50 times. These sections should be either really easy to play or practically play themselves.
The graphics are good but nothing in special, Iโm playing Witcher 2 on 360 in 2020 and it looks better than this.
Combat is nothing like Dark Souls or any Souls type games.
Itโs rough! Attacks and movement donโt feel accurate, the block stamina gimmick doesnโt work in fights with multiple enemies, many enemies have attacks that auto lock onto you even if you dodge, itโs very easy to get cheesed by enemies as youโre attacks donโt cause stagger so you can be hit instantly after landing a hit, many enemies can attack immediately after landing an attack meaning you get hit once thereโs nothing you can do to avoid a second attack. There are many other issues but overall I found combat to be frustrating and lacking fun, I never felt like a powerful Jedi nor did I feel like I was overcoming adversity like you do in Souls types games.
