The show gets off to a thoughtful start in episode one. The photography is beautiful and faithfully reproduced a cinematic version of Simon Stรฅlenhag' art.
However, episode two was disappointing and I couldn't watch any further. The episode draws from a trivial trope that movies like Freaky Friday, and Big established. Two boys switch bodies... It's such a huge missed opportunity to take advantage of this dystopian world. The high concept is swiftly dismantled by the cheap Hollywood story writing of boy likes girl, girl thinks he's a dweeb, switch body with a jock-ish friend.
This lazily plucked storyline makes the most of not having to write a coherent long story arc due to the episodic anthology format.
It's such a shame that the contemplative, poignant artwork has inspired such a cheap result.
