Horrible resuscitation of an overdone plot. If this was supposed to drive fear into the viewer it failed miserably. The two leads demonstrated that some actors just don't know how to get into character. The male lead, in particular, was pathetic as the menacing, psychopath. He was trying too hard at interpretation...the audience would see right through it. Let me not mention the scene where he found the dog dead. Urrrgh!!!. He certainly didn't instil the kind of fear that made you forget that you were on the other side of the screen and not in the actual film. If this was an attempt at rekindling that suspense/drama genre of old, it failed big time. Thrillers don't have to rely on gore for intensity and there was just more gore in this film than substance. A discerning audience can see when the director is struggling to titillate and the scene where he killed the guy who made the pass was just too much.

This is one of those times when the audience got it wrong and the critics right. This was just plain pretentious and awful! Blick!!!

Another movie that proves that film critics don't know what the hell they are talking about. Great movie, great acting. It was like I was seeing Halle Berry for the first time. She did well getting into character. So did Ribisi. It lead me down a path only to spring a twist. All along I thought Miles would have been the perfect stranger. I was surprised at the twist at the end.

I was enjoying it until the scene where the affair is revealed and three adult children all started sobbing. And if that wasn't gross enough, forward to the scene where they are all huddle together in the bed at the house of the soon-to-be son-in-law. Then I knew that I had wasted valuable time watching this ridiculous movie.

Lifetime Germany. Totally predictable. Lacklustre.

Total waste of time that cannot be regained!

Unrealistic plot....no redeeming quality.

Scores high for imaginative/unimagined creativity and originality. You can never truly fathom any possibility until it is a reality. In an industry where plots are revamped, regurgitated or told from a different angle, variations on a theme, this was refreshing. The irony of the blind school as the refuge is not lost on the viewer: the truly blind versus those who were forced to shield their eyes; temporarily lose their sight for survival. The blind folders for the duration of the journey at one with the realities of the truly blind. In a wider dimension it is a commentary on life itself: the survivors are forced to cover their eyes, so that they cannot see the destructive evil force. In our real life societal reality, society's ignorance and indifference become the blindfolds that is complicit in allowing evil to go unchallenged. So it feeds the evil, while in this film by not looking at the evil, it frustrates it; prevents its success. This is clear metaphor for the injustices that are allowed perpetration because the socially unconscious, the uninterested turns a figuratively blind eye.

Another reason why you shouldn't use reviews to judge if a movie is worth seeing...watch and make your own decision. Yeah, the film was slow-paced and old school but that didn't make it any less enjoyable for me. It may have demanded patience from the viewer to see the plot unfold. Sure it was devoid of cinematographic moments that have become so characteristic with today's films but so were the film of the 40s, 50, 60s that today are tagged as highly rated. If we go back to the era of novels, Jane Austen was a master of storytelling that relied solely on characterization rather than intensity...so too Agatha Christie. Old school storytelling requires us to reignite some of the qualities ---those little things --- that we have lost in a world where everything must be like a video game. It reminds us to take time to look for the little things and the messages that they convey. Perhaps one of the little things here is does the end justifies the means when you are faced with unadulterated evil?

A great example of good storytelling: Sets you up for a horror tale only to do a complete turn around as it leads you in one direction at the start, makes you sympathetic to those who you will turn against as it progresses, makes you angry at those who you will root for eventually and leaves you satisfied with the ending. Marvellous job at misleading the viewer. Nicely woven together. Love the double entendre: the evil unearthed was not supernatural but very human. Very surprised this didn't do well at the box office!
