11 years later, here’s my review: No sir, I don’t like it. It was *funny* but there was so much about it that was not true to The Muppets. Kermit being a miserable old recluse? That is a smack in the face to Jim Henson’s memory. And the whole premise of the film is that the Muppet Theater’s landlord is kicking them out but any fan of The Muppet Show should know that the theater is owned by Scooter’s uncle! None of the story should be happening. Another thing that really bugged me was all the Disney product placement. When they show the outside of The Muppet Theater, it’s sandwiched between a Disney store and a billboard advertising Cars 2! Then at the end there’s a firework show for some reason with three giant circles that make a Mickey Mouse!!! Argh. I’m not even going to get into how much was wrong with The Muppet characters’ personalities, because it would take too long. I will say that I did not like how the story focused way too much on the human characters and a new Muppet who was so forgettable i don’t even remember his name. Finally, when it came out on DVD, I saw it at the store and counted. The name Disney is on the box 22 times. How many times is the name Henson mentioned? ZERO! Disney sucks.
