This is one of the most underrated and underestimated movies I have almost ever watched. It is actually quite excellent with a cast that is so well suited to the script. Itโs subtle and it has many themes to it and itโs a huge mistake for people to dismiss it because it wasnโt critically โacceptedโ. If I read about it - itโs now 9 years ago, it got caught up in some โwokeโ criticism. Emma Stoneโs character, Allison Ng, was brilliant just as she was. An Asian actress wouldnโt have pulled it off as she did and I am sorry to hear she regretted making the movie because the criticism is really misplaced. Rachel MacAdam was outstanding as Tracy and one could feel her struggle and how much she loved Bradley Copperโs character and how relieved she was when he came back into her life. Honestly everyone was excellent - Alec Baldwin, Bill Murray, John Krasinski and others whose names I donโt know. Finally, the acting of Danielle Rose Russell, the young daughter, is one of the best I have seen of a teenager.. ever. The final scene was so powerful and possibly my favorite of any movie. Absolutely crazy this movie was panned and I find it annoying on some level. Itโs on Netflix - watch it. Also makes one realize how dangerous private citizens are when they are the major actors in space. It almost feels more relevant now than ever. Lots of subtleties in the movie. Watch it. (Again) :)
