I too struggled to stay focused on the first few chapters about the murder details...knowing that vital details may be relevant later on in the novel. What compelled me to keep reading was the character of Strike, who came across as a young Robbie Coltrain (Cracker TV series). I wanted to learn more about this detective. I never read the back cover on books, (spoils the plot) so was surprised to read it was actually a JK.R novel.
