A terrible movie. Hollywood machine at work to create cartoonish, team-written, pablum that managed to undermine the entire TV run.
The Monk we left the last season was an optimistic man, saved (mostly) from his own demons. The Monk we see in this movie is broken, which brings us all the way back to season one, episode one.
And Molly, the kind, fetching, shining light who opens Monk's heart at the series end, is a new Molly here, replaced by Caitlin McGee who is poorly cast with her dour, heavy-handed personae.
Do not bother with this movie. Not merely because it isn't good but because it wrecks all that came before it.
