I watch court dramas when I can. I do like your characters. They represent real life people doing jobs that are important and there are situations in court that need to be addressed.
I am a court reporter and we usually are not represented in the scenes on TV. The two reporters I have seen on your show are not at all realistic. Official reporters do not drag their machine into court every day. It stays in their office.
The official reporter this season who is there this season certainly diminished how hard this job is.
Usually the reporters barely touch the keys. The job of a court reporter is to get every word that is spoken in the courtroom. They are the keeper of the record. Their role is important to the system.
We do not have a lot of new reporters coming into our profession. Your portrayal does not encourage anyone to come into our profession.
Do your research about reporters, about how difficult reporting is and how dedicated most reporters are to doing the job even when lawyers are arguing and talking over each other. Do your research and get someone who knows how to use the machine so they are actually getting every word or at least making it look like they are getting every word.
