Brilliant film, deals with a topical subject with sensitivity. It looks magnificent with bleached colours and printed dresses. Rooney Mara and Clare Foy express the complexities of their (not entirely fictional) position anchored in their faith which is only once questioned explicitly. Ben Whishaw is the one trusted man. When you see the consequences of the domestic abuse and rapes these women and their daughters suffer you wonder why staying could ever be an option.
