I read a lot of books, and this book has moved me beyond words. I lost my dear mother recently at age 93; she grew up in WW II Germany and was blinded during the bombing of their home. This book draws you in and you can feel and imagine the emotions of the characters; the events feel real. It was like my mother was beside me at times, telling me her stories.
