An absolute delight from start to finish. One of my very favorite films. Breezy, lighthearted, relatable, hilarious, and an emotional ride. This is what made Jon Favreau a name in Hollywood - his willingness to dig into the normal, into real life, with his early indie ventures like Swingers and Made. The cast is wonderful, it’s beautifully written and shot, and the food…oh the food. I’ll never make a grilled cheese any other way. If you want more of this type of thing in a recent creative outing, watch The Bear on FX/Hulu. It takes a lot of what makes Chef great and builds on it exponentially. Chef is one of those wonderfully created films where it’s evident how much love went into making it. If you haven’t seen it, do yourself a huge favor and go watch it as soon as humanly possible - you’ll come away feeling like you can take on the world.
