honestly i enjoyed it, though i can get that it might be a little confusing since there's a lot of implicit storytelling especially when it comes to character's feelings and motives. with some thinking it makes sense but it's very easy to feel like an outsider looking in.
this watches as more of a segment or the turning point of the character's lives rather than a complete history, like you're tuning in for a bit having not watched the previous episodes nor planning to continue the series. it's enjoyable in a thought or feeling provoking way if that's what you're into.
if you're wondering what this movie is about think the godfather if it was a sort of coming-of-age / times are a-changing / drama movie. with an environmentalist undertone and themes of "what is it to be a parent / what is it to be a family." *no to gangsters, yes to possibly attempted murder?*
also a borderline toxic father-daughter relationship.
(borderline is generous)
(it's toxic.)
don't crucify me for the movie comparison.
