As an artist of over 30 years, and an AVID movie lover (black & white flicks up to current flicks) I’ve studied many actors/singers, including James Dean. I’ve drawn James Dean. And, I must say, the only good portrayal Dane Dahaan recreated was James Dean’s “awkwardness with life”, which makes it hard for me to watch this movie. I’m sure that it would be a decent movie to watch, if you didn’t know what James Dean looked like. This movie doesn’t evoke the true frustration that Dean would often feel, behind closed doors. His “quiet malcontent”. Dane just didn’t add up.
