So two caveats to keep in mind; I've only watched up through episode 17 so far, and before X I've only really seen the Metal series.
I have to say I'm fairly disappointed so far with the show. The character that is clearly meant to be the focused MC is Robin. His general personality is classic 'never give up' and it's nice that he isn't the typical OP clincher. But 17 episodes in and he still hasn't had even a single victory, official or not, making it really feel that he just doesn't belong in a professional setting. Jaxon is the next MC and has thoroughly proven his strength, but his personality is so one note that he feels more like a plot device to keep their team winning and for cheap laughs. Multi is the last of the MCs and is by far my favorite. Her shifting personality and clear skill by far makes her the most interesting.
My biggest issue by far though are the Beyblades themselves. They all look practically identical and feel less special. Multi's whole gimmick is utilizing a large collection of beys and being proficient in all of them, so that's a pass. But our MC Robin is already on his third bey, and the powerhouse Jaxon, who at the beginning of the series is insinuated to be using the bey of his former leader, is also using a secondary version of it. There's little explanation in how each of these beys differ from eachother and even less of why they differ. This is where I loved and appreciated the Metal series; most beys were very unique and each one featured would always have an explanation of how their specialized parts allowed them to do their crazy attack or abilities, even when said abilities were outrageous.
I will say that with focus being off the beys, it feels like a blader's skill really matters, which I like. But that just highlights how bad Robin really is right now. I hope that the show gets better as I continue it, and if it does I'll change my rating. There's potential but so far I'm not feeling it.
