I listened to this horrendous account of what it was like to be Jewish during that time in history, on Audible and I couldn't stop listening. The story was well written highlighting the contrast of harsh reality of torture and on the other hand man compassion for his fellow man...sharing food when starving...risking one's life to help someone else to survive. And then the tenderness of love in the midst of so much tragedy. A true account of man's ability to endure atrocities..the sadistic mental torture that the SS officers took pleasure in dolling out for their childish amusement.
This was a story of the worst and best of humanity and ones will and determination to survive so that the world gets to know what happened and that no one forgets. God forbid if anything even close to the atrocities of WW2 ever happen again.
Thank you Lale for giving us your story and a huge thanks to Heather Morris for your determination in writing it. Lest we forget.
