10 years in the joint made this very disappointing. Its not even close to an adaptation. The characters have the same names and that is about it. They don't match their characters from the game at all. If it did not have the Like a Dragon name to it, people probably wouldn't even look at it. He doesn't even peacock a guy's mom. The fights are minimal so far. There's like 1 fight scene per episode and they are less than a minute each. As a fan of the series I can not recommend it.
As a separate series its aight. Pretty cringey at times but wow. How hard is it to make a story that is already there? Its not that great to be honest but its not terrible. Watched the first 3 episodes and don't feel like watching the rest when it drops. Its like they fed the game to chatgpt and this is what it came out with. Even if you like yakuza movies, I think it is alright. The constant bouncing back and forth is annoying. Without the absurdity, it feels pretty lifeless and melodramatic.
The actors do a great job but the writers of the show really botched it. Trying to do yakuza 1 & 0 in 6 episodes (about 45 minutes each = 270) is ambitious and falls flat. They tried but remove "adaptation" and put inspired by 'cause this ain't an adaptation chief.
