I appreciate korean entertainment mostly for their originality, keenness to show the unique culture, good looking stud muffins are a plus but this show was too wrong for me.
The actress Ha Jae Sook in the show is supposedly overweight and not good looking enough to be the lead which says a lot in my opinion about how much looks matter in the korean enterainment industry. There is this scene where she is standing next to Joo Sang Wook and he wipes the flour off her forehead and as soon as the scene gets intense she switches to Han Ye Seul (pretty lady) and this happens again and again. and then pretty guy kisses pretty lady =_=.
I mean i get how maybe the audience wants that but i think it would have been better to avoid showing "ugly fat ladies" get thin and beautiful and only THEN be acceptable part of society. It is messed up. Anyway my opinion.
Most kdramas always turn out to be romantic regardless of genre which is a pain but they have the potential to be great- it will be refreshing to see some open mindedness when it comes to what really defines beauty- something not reliant on outward appearance.
