If you're ever going to start playing games in the Pokemon series, I recommend that you start off with either Explorers of Sky or Black and White/ Black 2 and White 2. This game and Gen 5 are the Pokemon games that helped me get into the series as a whole. Again, as many other people have said, this game is a masterpiece. Go ahead and give it a go, you'll most likely love it.
