Itโs substantially better than the craptacular flop that Joss Whedon created, but thatโs not a high bar. Itโs four hours long and some of it is actually good. But some of it is still pretty bad. Overall, itโs throughly mediocre. There are times youโll marvel at the excellent cinematography. And there are times youโll want to yell โshut upโ at your TV. The action scenes are either colorless or else theyโre so poorly lit youโll have no idea whatโs actually going on anyway. The actors have all the chemistry of a pile of bricks. The dialogue ranges from meaningful to vapid and quippy. The first scene with the Flash was definitely meant to feel cute and romantic, but it actually just comes off as creepy. And a lot of the heroes come off as basically just being angsty teenagers who are angry at each other for no real reason. And Darkseid comes off like a cartoon villain whoโs evil for the sake of being evil. Thereโs no depth or motivation. Overall, itโs an improvement over the theatrical cut, but itโs still meh. It just feels like your basic, average, run of the mill CGI slugfest. If you already have HBO, itโs worth a watch. But donโt buy HBO just to watch it.
