Great premise. Could have been better fleshed out as far as the histories of characters . All in all a great take on an old story.

The movie was done well. Kept to the history of Candyman. I liked that they brought Helens character into this version by using the tapes of her voice. One thing I do not appreciate is the clear attack on the whites. All whites killed and all white cops coming to the calls. I wish we could step away from vilification of races and just tell s good scary story.

Movie had some high notes but as others have stated,to similar to the already been there done that movies such as Jodie Fosters’ Panic Room and Bruce Willis Hostage. Gabrielle Union is an excellent actress but this movie lacked a fully fleshed out narrative. And why are we seeing strong women roles with the male partner coming in weak and unable to lend any type of support? The daughter and son had more backbone then dad!
