One of the most frustrating series i've seen in a long time. Throughout the season my rating really fluctuated between 2-5 stars. Away offers powerful, emotion scenes being played by great actors, excellent space visuals and an overall interesting storyline. The scenes on the spaceship are always good, if not great, but problems arise once we return to Earth.
What the series really suffers from, and near sinks the show for me is the endless melodramatic moments between the secondary characters (specifally the daughter and husband/father). The series needs to hire better writers because right now it's really suffering from the dreaded Netflix bloat. I could've cut 5 episodes and have been left with something better.
Still, I will give season 2 a shot, if they get around to making it. But my patience will have already be worn thin. One more scene of her daughter crying about her mom will be the straw that broke the camel's back.
