Rin deserved better. Sesshomaru deserved better. The OG Inu gang deserved better. Whether intentional or not, the relationship canonized in this joke of a show is akin to a groomer/child relationship. There was no need to turn the relationship between these two background characters (that had a wholesome father/daughter-esque relationship) into this gross mess. Everyone feels out of character. Kagome and Sango have been relegated to simply “wives,” and Shippo is MIA. Instead of the happy ending these characters deserved, things have been pointlessly retconned for the sake of a spin-off with a plot that feels extremely lacking. It pains me as a huge fan of Inuyasha who was originally ecstatic for Yashahime. My new feelings are that we were better off without it. Not sure why a relationship between a 14/15 year old girl and an adult man is being painted as normal in 2021, not to mention he saved her and took her in when she was 8. Needless to say, I’m grossed out and disappointed.
