I 'accidentally' stumbled upon this show while lazily browsing Netflix one day. I decided to give the first episode a try as it was only around 20 minutes long. I figured, why not? Well, I'm glad I did!
This was the cutest, most adorable show I've ever seen! It's the third CDrama I've seen (I normally watch KDramas), and it's catapulted to my favorite C/K Drama show ever (and I've seen quite a few KDramas)! It's almost perfect. I watch shows to entertain myself, I don't take shows that seriously - and this was the perfect mixture of light, quirky and adorable! I loved all the characters.
Situ Feng and Chen Qingqing - they were so cute! I loved how they showed them slowly falling in love with each other. It didn't feel rushed at all and their time together, especially when they were a couple were a-dork-able! :)
***Spoilers ahead***
My favorite moments: there were a few but of course, like everyone else, I loved the part in the church when she shows up and introduces herself. You could see tears brimming her eyes as she waits for him to shake her hand, unsure whether he would. And the relief that followed when he did. When those vouchers rained from above and Feng's eyes were filled with tears as he looked around and realized how much she loved him - that was precious. The song was perfect too. I'm too old to be fangirling over things like this and I never thought I'd like a youth drama, but seriously, this one was worth it. Rewatch value? I'm rewatching it right now and I JUST finished it. :)
The OSTs really, really worked. I love Feng's voice and I can't get enough of the songs - Star and To Be Loved are my favorites. (I literally have been listening to those over and over again since I watched the show).
Qingqing is so quirky - I know some people said she was annoying but I love how strong she was. Maybe because she was rich so had all the self confidence she needed. No matter what came her way, she never backed down or got discouraged. Even the bullies were no match for her. I love how mature she was, too - when Feng told her he had to leave, she at first got upset (naturally), but then apologized later and said she understood.
Qingqing's grandfather also made me laugh. The supporting characters: Nanxi, Fangfang and Yiying were also quite good. I didn't even hate Xinya as I found her funny during the play.
This was so cute through and through. Yes, there were plot holes (or forgotten plots), but I could overlook it for this.
The drama part: there wasn't much drama or complicated plots. It was easy to watch. I did get teary eyed over some parts - but that just shows how well the actors did and how invested I got in their characters.
I wished they let her be her 'real' self in the end but I guess her glasses/short hair fit her quirky personality better but it would be nice to have seen her 'pretty' self acting silly with Feng but oh well.
The two leads did an amazing job and I would like to see them do a second season but I heard it's with a different cast :(.
I never thought I'd like it this much - so if you're undecided and you like light, quirky shows, give it a shot!
