Ok, here is an HONEST review: 7/10
Pluses
1. The songs + chemistry between my all time fav couple are truly the best!
2. There was no under or overacting. XZL and Liang Jie do their part leading me through the roller coaster of emotions. The Aunt and Cousin on Wang Xiyi's side of the family were expected (by me) to be villains, but they are the comedic part of the film, along with Jiaxin's friend and Anson, Xiyi's secretary.
Deltas
I have a huge problem with the plot and the ending. Understandably Xiyi has trouble telling his girlfriend of his pregnant wife, because, well...he doesn't want to break her heart! He's known her for so long, but thankfully, he breaks the news and leaves her. However, like the viewers, I do wish that he told her a little sooner. Even so, judging by how possessive and evil Anna gets, I'm quite glad the director/writer didn't do so. It could have ruined whatever progress Xiyi made with Jiaxin. On the other hand, Jiaxin isn't innocent either. She shouldn't have turned a blind eye to Anna, who gave her a divorce agreement (xiyi had given jiaxin a divorce agreement before jiaxin officially started living with him, just to be sure that she would be out of his life, when Anna arrived, and allow HIM to carry the baby in her womb, but still giving her a chance to occasionally see the baby).
Jiaxin didn't know was that Xiyi had altered the divorce agreement (now called the supplement agreement) in favor of her. But, she KNEW that Xiyi had broken up with his longtime girlfriend. She knew Xiyi's feelings for her had changed. But she didn't give him a chance to explain. She ran out, crashed into a moving car, and had to have the baby aborted for her safety. She runs away to Hungary. Away from her feelings. Away from Xiyi. Even after Xiyi came to her 3 years later, she still didn't try to work things out. During his wait for Jiaxin the majority of blame was put on him (another fault in the script)
This is where I think the director/writer should've had the characters more involved, like Dylan and Jiaxin's mother. They should have tried to listen to Xiyi's side of the story instead of blindly supporting Jiaxin.
Finally, when the main leads are reunited, The viewers, who once felt sympathetic for her, begin to turn on her. And rightly so. Despite, confronting Xiyi properly, she pushes him away even further, and even tries to get together with Dylan to make Xiyi jealous! This is when I truly question the writer and director. WHY must you include jealousy?? A man and a woman can be friends, but why must you try to put them together? And why must you make the FL act so foolishly?
I think the episode that makes me the maddest is the final episode ( ep 36). I would have liked to see Jiaxin and Xiyi confronts Anna. I would have liked to see how Jiaxin's mother reacted to the whole thing. But what I WOULD NOT LIKE TO SEE is Jiaxin and Xiyi inviting the villain, Anna to their WEDDING. Like, excuse me, WHAT.
Who does that? I had to suffer 40 minutes of my emotions being turned tossed left and right, and my only solace is the LAST 5 minutes of a happy ending! TERRIBLE. The LEAST the director could have done is granted us another episode that gave us viewers a SATISFYING ending (ending with Jiaxin having a baby since that was the thing that tied them together).
