As a history enthusiast I really liked Assassinโs creed origins and odyssey. The landscapes and open world were beautiful and immense. My biggest complaint with those games was the factor of all the repetitiveness. You would have to keep going into an enemy castle or keep killing everyone and then killing the captain or leader over and over. But still, overall they were decent enough fun, especially if you enjoy history. Also what I liked about them they werenโt so nerd level when it came to the rpg factor of those games. There was enough action for someone who maybe doesnโt enjoy all the intricate details of a really immersive and immense rpg style game in the classic sense of an rpg game.
All that being said. Although I am only about 20 or so hours into Valhalla, I have to say maybe because my family origin is from the UK and so I am kind of biased to this time period of history? But so far overall, itโs just as stunningly beautiful with its immense open world just like the previous creed games I had mentioned. However, yes there is a bit of some repetitiveness within this game but not nearly as much of the same cut, paste, and copy as the previous versions. Iโm really liking Valhalla a bit more than Origins and Odyssey. Time will tell as I progress but I feel they did a great job making you feel more of a connection to whichever main character male or female you choose to play as.
Like many have mentioned the level upgrade screen is a bit of a head spin, so like most players I just use the gameโs suggested level upgrades when upgrading.
I donโt understand all the hate for this creed game? And yes Iโm only around 20 hours in so perhaps I will be back to update my review upon completion.
But so far it is entertaining enough. Also yes there are some side quests but not nearly as many of useless distracting ones like in Origins and Odyssey where you could get so involved in them you would almost forget to follow the main quests and storyline.
I hope this review helped anyone on the fence. Keep in mind you can probably buy this pre owned for around $12 and even being a couple of years old it still is stunningly beautiful and graphically right up there with even some of the most recent 2025 games released today.
