An excellent novel by one of my favorite authors, Geraldine Brooks, Year of Wonders set in 1666 plague-infested England is an excellent example of a historical novel that is interesting, well-researched, well-written and accessable. The main character, Anna Frith, is as human as she is heroic: very relatable. It is somewhat graphic in places, though, so be warned. Of course, a novel can't get more timely. For some maybe wait until most of the current Covid-19 pandemic is over?
