Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is a masterstroke in world design with vast and sprawling landscapes filled with monsters of all sizes. this is probably the most striking feature of XBC2.
The characters are fun and bubbly and yet are deeply interesting with great character arches. The voice acting is great in my opinion.
The combat system in the game can appear "boring", but only to those who are uninterested to learn about the depth of mechanics that actually exist. The combat system in XBC2 is actually among the most complex and rewarding I've seen in a long time. Your attacks are in waves of 3, with the 3rd strike doing the most damage, if you time your ability correctly you'll get increased damage from it as well. This is on top of a 3 level "special" attack system that relies on your allies abilities as well. You're encouraged to learn the best elemental synergies to take down your foes. This doesn't even mention the chain attack mechanic, elemental burst, break, topple, launch and smash mechanics either. Anyone who says the combat is boring doesn't know what they're talking about, sorry.
Couple this with the very long narrative that you're taken on and you've got yourself a game that is definitely worth a purchase. Those complaining about "fetch quests" must not know that they are optional. They simply are not required, and thus - if you don't want to complete them, then you are not forced to. However, in doing so you unlock more lore and you are taken to parts of Alrest you otherwise might not have seen.
If you liked Xenoblade Chronicles or Xenoblade Chronicles X, this is a no brain decision.
